Abraham obtained the promise - despite his blunders! The "Father of Faith" wasn't perfect. He lied and said that Sarah was his sister, not his wife. And that lie stemmed from the fear of man. Then there's the whole business with the servant-woman, Hagar. Abe blew it - big time, and repeatedly. And yet none of those mistakes put his standing with God in peril.
