The religious leadership of Jesus' day had a good thing going. They were profiting very nicely from their corruption of the sacrificial system. Then Jesus appears and upsets their apple cart. Jesus brazenly confronted the religious hierarchy head on. It's one of the few times we read of Him being angry. Those individuals who go about getting rich off of ministry in God's name make Him mad. And His reaction also enraged those who's income He threatened. Here's the undercurrent of a lot of the opposition to Jesus: He threatened the status quo of people who made a very good living by cheating God's people.
