Should we "earnestly desire" the end of the world? Christians have been accused of doing evil - or doing nothing about evil - in order to hasten the return of Christ, and final judgment. That's biblically illiterate, besides being untrue. But Peter, in his second letter, does say that the world will be destroyed by fire - and then tells us to look forward to that event!
